  1. Q: Where is your story taking place? What is the time period? How do these two things affect your reading of the story?

A: My chosen is called 'Once Was Lost' and it takes place in Sacramento. The main character, Sam, moves houses a lot from Denver to Medford to Sacramento. The time period of my story is modern day because there are many things in the story that people right now use. These two things affect my reading of the story because as I read the story, I can picture it well since I'm experiencing the modern day too. I can also picture Sacramento and the action going on in this story by my past experience of going to Sacramento, California.

Q: From which point of view is the narrator speaking? How does this affect your reading? How does this point of view shape the story?

A: The narrator is speaking from 1st person point of view. This doesn't affect my reading because I can put myself in the main characters position and view the story from that point of view. The 1st person point of view shapes the story in a good way. As I said before, putting myself in the same place as the character really helps the reading better since I can shape the story better.

I like the way you answered your second question. My book is also written in 1st person and I can too imagine myself in the main character's shoes. Also, it's great that you can imagine the setting as well.

My main character doesn't have a real home either. She has traveled all over the world and the country. My book is also put in 1st person, but my main character is a girl so it is hard to put myself in there shoes.

Unlike you and your novel, I don't have much connection to the setting in Shiver. Mercy Falls is a cold place with a lot of snow which is not at all like Texas. My book is also in 1st person, but it alternates Grace and Sam's point of views. I like how the reader gets to listen to the story at different angles and get a taste of both their emotions.

My story is written in 3rd person perspective, but the narrator only follows one main character, Jomo. This, in my opinion, helps me a lot because when a book is written in 3rd person, it's really hard for me to follow the story and will most likely make me quit reading. This book is very like first person perspective written book. so that helps me

My novel is written in first period too. I, however, believe that it affects my reading because it helps me better understand what the character is feeling and why he is feeling it. I also think that the point of view helps shape the story.

Q: Where is your story is your story taking place? What is the time period? How do these two things take affect your reading of the story.

A: From all the chapters I have read so far the story ,mainly, takes place in a city called Basilica. The time period is some time in the future but the specifics are not known. The setting makes read more for the the futuristic parts of the book.

Q: Does the setting help you relate to the story better or worse?

A: The setting helps me relate to the story because there are a lot of modern day references. The cities seem similar to the cities of modern day; they also have market like we do and vendors selling hings at them. The setting has a mix of futuristic and modern day things combined.

My book is set in modern times so I agree that having references that we are familiar with makes the book easier to read and easier to get into the story.

By reading your question's answers our stories seem to be completely different. Your novel seems to be taking place in the future while my novel takes place in modern day. There is one similarity that our stories have in common, though, and it's that there are modern day references being made in our books.

Q: Who are the main characters in your book and what is their function? Why are they the main characters?

A: The main characters in my book are Hanna, Spencer, Emily, and Aria. They used to be best friends with a girl named Ali before she was murdered. A couple years after her death, they got mysterious texts from someone named "A." Their function is to figure out who "A" is. They are the main characters because like I mentioned before, they were recieving anonymous texts and no other character in the book was getting them.

Q: How do they change and how does their change affect the other characters/story line?

A: The main characters change by being on their guard more often. In the very first book of this series, they were happy and carefree. Then suddenly their best friend Ali disappeared and soon after, they started recieving chilling texts from "A." After that, they became paranoid and feared even their own shadows. This change affected the others story lines. Family members and other friends were trying to reach out and help them, but they kept blocking them out. In return, the people who tried to help became melancholy as well because they didn't know how to cheer the main characters up.

Our stories have some similarities and differences. They are similar because both of them have to do with a murder, but my story seems to have a lot more action and violence than yours does. Our stories are different because your story has four main characters and they are trying to figure out who "A" is while mine has one main character that's trying to kill and escape an expert tracker named Scotty.

Q: Does the setting help you relate to the story better or worse?
A: The setting definitely helps me relate to the story. With it being in the modern day and at a high school that is pretty stereotypical, I feel like I can better put myself in the story and really get into the Ever's head.

Q:Are any themes blatantly obvious? (war, friendship, love, prejudice, change, etc.) How does the author shape this theme? What is the author trying to say about this theme?
A: The themes that are really obvious throughout the book are love and moving on from the past. In the book Ever holds herself responsible for the accident that killed her parents. She doesn't think she deserves the love Damen gives her and she thinks only bad things happen to those who get close to her. She finally forgives herself when she finds out that the accident wasn't her fault, another person had caused it. In that moment she also accepts Damen and returns his love. The things that Alyson Nöel is trying to get across through the themes is that love will conquer all and it is better to forgive, especially yourself, but not necessarily forget.

My book is not in the modern day but there are things I can also relate to. My character, Nafai, goes to school for example and is trying to study for a field he likes. That is usually typical in modern day.

I really like the theme that you discovered and how it can relate to a theme in real life. This seems kind of like a conflict in my book as well where my character has trouble in a relationship.

Q: Who are the main characters in your book and what is their function? Why are they the main characters?
A: In my book, Maximum Ride, it centers around two main people. Maximum Ride and Fang, the reason they are the two characters is because they are apparently "soul mates". The book goes through as they deal with there adventures together, and the conflicts that go along.

Q: What is the conflict? Why did the author choose to focus on this conflict?
A: The book is about many generation of "enhanced" people. There is a group of people called the 99% Percenters who want to take out 99 percent of the human race in order for the world to survive. The two main characters goal is to stop this group and save the world.

The book sounds very intense with the antagonists wanting to take out 99% of the human race! It seems more lively and fun with having two main characters as partners than one like in my novel. My protagonist has to deal with all the problems herself, while Maximum always have someone he can trust and count on.

Q: Where is your story taking place? What is the time period? How do these two things affect your reading of the story?

A: My story 'Bug Boy' takes place at Saratoga racing track in New York. The story is during the time period of the Great Depression. These two attributes affect my reading greatly because it really gives you a sense of how poor everyone was during this time period. Everytime a person receives any kind of money, the author makes sure that the reader understands how precious the currency is. It helps me to get a better understanding of how hard it was to live back then. The everyday battle that people went through was shocking.

Q: What is the conflict? Why did the author choose to focus on this conflict?

A: The conflict in my book is where the antagonist, Jasper, promises the protagonist, Jack Walsh, two hundred dollars if Jack sabotages his horse and loses one of his races. The immediate denial of this offer shows the integrity and wise decision making of Jack. Jasper, however, constantly confronts Jack to try and change his mind with force. Jack's repeated refusal to the offer makes the reader fear for his safety. The author put this conflict in to show the temptation of money in the Great Depression and to put an obstacle in the way of Jack's potential as a jockey. It also shows Jack's characterization as he makes several tough decisions under pressure.

Q: What gender, age, and race are the characters? Does the genetic make-up of the characters tell us something about a point the author is trying to make?

A: The race of my protagonist, Tansy, is white. She is a female and 16 years old- having only two more years left until graduation. The only genetic make-up of the character that the author gave so far was Tansy's green eyes and black hair from her mother. Even with the two physical characteristics, I think the point the author is trying to make is a eerie presence from the main character (after all, it is a mysterious and supernatural novel!). The title Through Her Eyes was a great hint how different Tansy's eyes must be from the rest of the characters, enabling her to see ghosts through a camera. Not only that, what color hair could suit more for a gloomy setting than black?

Q: Where is your story taking place? What is the time period? How do these two things affect your reading of the story?

A: The story is taking place in Cedar Canyon, Texas. The time period is mostly in the present but changes time to time in the character's past. The overall of setting gives me a chill because the author gives the place a haunted background and the fact that I live in Texas. It also tells the perceptions as a person that has lived in a different state, describing Texas as having a "small population" and calling a Texan as "a cowboy".

Q:From which point of view is the narrator speaking? How does this affect your reading? How does this point of view shape the story?

A: The narrator is the protagonist, Luke Prescott, and he is speaking in first person. This affects my reading because the narrator reveals mostly just his thoughts and feelings, so I am more likely to relate to him and be on his side. This point of view shapes the story by making me relate to the person telling the story.

Q: Does the setting help you relate to the story better or worse?

A: The setting helps helps me relate to the story better because it takes place in a high school and I am in high school. It also doesn't help me realte to the story because it takes place in a private boarding school, which I believe is different from my school.

I agree that a novel in first person helps because it helps show thoughts and feeling that you can't get from a third person point of view. I think it is easier to read from the point of view of the main character.

Q: Where is your story taking place? What is the time period? How do these two things affect your reading of the story?

A: My story is taking place in an isolated trailer deep in the California desert. I believe the story takes place in present time since guns, trailers, and sneakers have been invented. These two aspects affect the story in a couple of ways. The fact that the story takes place in a desert shows how much Angel, the main character, will have to struggle in order to survive. Furthermore, the time period indicates that there will be a wider variety of weapons for Angel or Scotty to use when they confront each other.

Q: Does the setting help you relate to the story better or worse?

A: The setting helps me relate to the story a lot more. The story takes place in the California desert and this helps me identify what kinds of resources are available to Angel. It also allows me to identify how hard it will be for her to survive in the desert with no food, water, or any supplies in general.

Q: Who are the main characters in your book and what is their function? Why are they the main characters?

A: There are three main characters in The Perks of Being a Wallflower: Charlie, Sam, and Patrick. Charlie writes letters to a "friend" based on his experiences as a freshman. His two friends, Sam and Patrick, are both seniors who help Charlie find himself. Without them, Charlie would not have been influenced to try different things and explore who he really is and the people that surround him.

Q: From which point of view is the narrator speaking? How does this affect your reading? How does this point of view shape the story?

A: In The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the narrator is Charlie. Charlie writes letters to an anonymous friend about his experiences. Through this style of writing you are able to understand what he thinks and feels. This point of view makes the story more relatable in a sense that we are able to first hand experience what Charlie has. I think that a good book should be able to pull you in and make you feel as if you were in the narrator's position which Perks is capable of.

Q: Who are the main characters in your book and what is their function? Why are they the main characters?

A: The main characters of Shiver are Grace and Sam. The novel is focused on their relationship and struggle to stay together. Sam is fighting to stay human, so he can make his last year worthwhile with Grace. Grace acts as Sam's tie to the human world. Their time together is precious because Sam might never change back into a human again.

Q: What symbolism occurs in the story?

A: The leaves often mentioned in this novel represent Sam and his struggle to stay human. Autumn leaves cling to branches waiting for a gust of wind to knock them down. Likewise, Sam clings to his last year of human life, but a simple winter breeze can make him change into a wolf. Grace saw that "his eyes reflected the same brilliant yellow" as the golden leaves on the trees. She describes him as transient and knows that their time is limited.

Q: What is the conflict? Why did the author choose to focus on this conflict?

A: The main conflict in my story is a fight between the main character Tom Harvey and his inner self. He obtains supernatural powers and becomes nearly unstoppable, but struggles making his decisions. He begins to have vengeance on the people who attacked him and his friends, but he sometimes wonders if what he is doing is right. I believe the author chose to focus on this conflict in order to show that even if we become irate or upset, we should think a little deeper about our actions and see what the corollaries would be, instead of acting from our momentary emotions.

Q: What is the protagonist good at? What does he or she like to do? How is he or she challenged? How does he or she grow/is he or she challenged?

A: My protagonist Tom Harvey is good at saving people from thugs and gangs and obtaining information very quickly from his web based brain. He enjoys spending time with a girl named Lucy, who he likes, and helping his grandma. He is challenged the most when he knows the actions he is making are wrong, and he grows when he begins to think about the effects of his actions and becomes more careful.

A: The specific place is not mentioned in the book, it takes place in a community where there is a Joe's Pizza. It is modern day story. It helps me relate to the story because they are in a town like ours and we are in the same peiod of time which makes it very relatable.

Q:What is the main conflict? Why did the author choose to focus on the conflict?

A: The conflict in the story is Man Vs. Man becaue Kayla was kidnapped by a man who ordered pizza and asked her to deliver it. Gabie and Drew need to help find Kayla and bring her back safely.
The author chooses to focus on the story to bring a mysterious and realistic problem we have all the time, today.

Jomo trained naturally until he found out that effort itself will not get him get buff like hulk. so he decides to use anabolic steroids to get big. The story mainly focuses on his life as a highschool football player

Q: What is the conflict? Why did the author choose to focus on this conflict?

Q: Does the setting help you relate to the story better or worse?

From which point of view is the narrator speaking? How does this affect your reading? How does this point of view shape the story?

The main character in my book, is speaking from the first person. This does not affect my reading that much, because the books I normally read are in the first person. This shapes the story a lot, because it changes the way you picture the story, and makes you wonder what if this happened to you?

Does the setting help you relate to the story better or worse?

The setting of the story helps me relate worse to the story. I live in Frisco, Texas. In Frisco there are a lot of cars, and many different people. She lives in Grubstake, Colorado. Where is your story taking place? What is the time period? How do these two things affect your reading of the story?

My story takes place in a city, not one in particular, and in the sewers. It is hard to pin-point the time period in which my story takes place, but I would say that it takes place in the future. These two things affect my reading because throughout the novel it mentions how the people above (in the city) are cruel and don’t accept people who are different. That is why Matthew, Ari, Jake and the rest of the characters live in the sewers, to escape persecution. This setting really makes you wonder why the people above are so close-minded to people being different. The characters live in an underground home known as Safe; however, after Safe was invaded they were went to live in a safe house above. The setting really helps you understand the fear of the characters and why they live their lives how they do.

From which point of view is the narrator speaking? How does this affect your reading? How does this point of view shape the story?

My chosen novel Above is written in first person point of view. The story is told through Matthew, the protagonist’s, point of view. It affects my reading because I am able to feel what he is feeling, see what he is seeing, and know what he is thinking. This point of view helps shape the story because if the story was just told in third person point of view you wouldn’t be able to connect with the character as much. The story from Matthew’s point of view really helps you understand what it must be like to be in his shoes and what it must be like to go through the situations he went through.

Our stories take place in an entirely different place. While yours is in the sewers, my novel takes place in the crowded parts of Manhattan. My characters don't go through anything like your characters due to their settings. The characters in my novel just seem to party all night without a trouble in life, while yours are trying to make a better with their surroundings. Q: Where is your story taking place? What is the time period? How do these two things affect your reading of the story?

A: My story takes place near Harlem,New York in the mid-late 1980s. This makes me visualize more of where the narrator is in the story,as well as get a better understanding more into the environment in which the narrator lives in.

Q: From which point of view is the narrator speaking? How does this affect your reading? How does this point of view shape the story?

A: The narrator is speaking in the First person point of view. This affects my reading because, the way it is written makes it like more of a movie, because of the fact that it feels like I am reading a movie, it makes it much more interesting, in my opinion. The point of view in the shapes the story by making it seem like the narrator is talking to the reader specifically.

Q: Does the setting help you relate to the story better or worse?

A: The setting of my book is in a futuristic-type academy in the middle of nowhere with android students. Since this is probably not a place that you can find anywhere, it doesn't help me relate to the story. In fact, I think it worsens my relation to the story because it is such an extreme setting.

Q: From which point of view is the narrator speaking? How does this affect your reading? How does this point of view shape the story?

A: The narrator in my book speaks in first person. He is the main character, Benson. I think that this point of view actually aids me in my reading. I can read and understand what Benson feels and thinks in his mind from this point of view. This helps shape the story from his point of view, and it sort of makes me feel what he is feeling. For example, I might feel happy when Benson is or angry when he is. Since Benson is the main character in my novel, the story is shaped on his actions. Since I have "access" to Benson's thoughts, I think it helps me understand why he acts when he does.

Q: Does the setting help you relate to the story better or worse?

A: The setting of my book helps me relate to the story better because the setting of my story is in the middle of a war. Without the setting, you would not be able to feel or experience my protagonist's feelings and moods. For example, when Private Duffy has flashbacks about the kid in the alley getting shot, knowing the setting and what's going on in that time, helps you to fully understand what Matt is going through and how he feels.

Q: From which point of view is the narrator speaking? How does this affect your reading? How does this point of view shape the story?

A: The point of view in my novel is first person. It is in the perspective of Matt Duffy, the main character. This helps my reading tremendously because I feel like I can put myself in Matt's shoes with a first person point of view. Reading in this point of view, help because when Matt feels a feeling like curiosity or depression, it is almost like I feel those emotions too. It makes the story more intriguing because when you feel those feeling, it pulls you in, and you want to keep reading.

Q: Who are the main characters in your book and what is their function? Why are they the main characters?

A: The main character in my novel is Benson Fisher, an orphan who transfers to a new school called the Maxwell Academy. He is probably there to fix the crooked school rules and escape from the school. Benson is a rebellious student who is able to sense his danger when it comes. I think he is the right character to be a main, because he has the courage to stand up for himself.

Q: From which point of view is the narrator speaking? How does this affect your reading? How does this point of view shape the story?

A: Benson Fisher is the narrator of the novel, and he speaks in first person. Because the story is narrated along while the event takes place, I am able to concentrate on the events and understand better. I also imagine how it would have looked like if the event is happening in front of me. Benson's point of view allows me to focus on the plot and get interested as story goes along.

Q: What is the protagonist good at? What does he or she like to do? How is he or she challenged? How does he or she grow/is he or she challenged?

A: The protagonist, Jack, is good at being courageous. Jack is in a special part of the army, so he likes to help his country. In this novel Jack is challenged with many difficult decisions, such as, the decision to join "Private" which is a(n) secretive detective agency for celebrities and wealthy people. Jack, says that he "is happy where he is" in his current job, but soon lets curiosity take over, and joins Private.

Q: What is the conflict? Why did the author choose to focus on this conflict?

A: Jack faces many conflicts in this novel, but I haven't actually reached the big conflict in this novel. I have read many minor conflicts, though. One of the minor conflicts is that Jack has to decide wether or not it's a good idea to join "Private" a secretive detective agency for celebrities and wealthy people.

Q: Who is the antagonist? Why are they in the novel? Why are they portrayed the way they are? How do they act as a foil character?

A: Mr. Hobbes, also known as Naughty John, is the antagonist in the novel The Diviners. I believe that Mr. Hobbes is in the novel because he gives the characters more meaning in their role. If he weren't there, then the novel would just be talking about the other character's daily lives. Mr. Hobbes is portrayed the way he is because he represents the suspense in the novel. Without his creepy personality, the novel would be fairly boring. Naughty John acts as an foil character by killing innocent people for his offering or summoning which has yet to be discovered what for. He would take certain body parts from the victim and corrupt their bodies in the most foul ways. For instance, he has taken a girl's eyes and a young boy's hands.

Q: From which point of view is the narrator speaking? How does this affect your reading? How does this point of view shape the story?

A: The point of that the narrator speaks in the novel The Diviners is in third person. This point of view affects my reading by making everything a lot more simple. I'm able to know who is talking without having to second guess myself. I am also able to understand the settings and plotting better and how everyone is thinking. This point of view shapes the story by letting the reader know what every character is thinking. It shows each of their personal opinions. The point of view also makes the suspense sections more entertaining while if it were in first person, it could become quite confusing. It allows a better visual of what's happening to the characters and what process is going through their mind.

Q:Does the setting help you relate to the story better or worse?

A:The story takes place in a world where the wealthy, pretty people and the ugly,"freak" are separated between walls. This helps me relate to the story better because it describes the nice life inside the wall of Enclave, but also portraying the life of poverty outside Enclave. The setting helps me understand why the character personality is the way it is.

Q:How do they change and how does their change affect the other characters/story line?
A: In my story the main character Bilbo, Becomes more courageous and starts to complain a lot less as the story progresses. This makes it a lot easier on the dwarves because they don’t have to worry about him as much and they can focus more on the journey ahead
Q:Where is your story taking place? What is the time period? How do these two things affect your reading of the story?
A: My story is taking place in “Middle Earth” Which is a fictional world that is much like Earth, exept for the fact that mythical creatures live there. The story takes place in the “Third Age” of time as described in the book, but since my book and the real world have different ways of telling time periods apart. I can only guess when that the events took place between the 1500 and 1600. These two things greatly affect my story because you have to get used to a new world and a new time period.

I liked how you arranged your sentences and wording. It sounds very professional. Also, I liked how you explained your predictions on what the "Middle Earth" and the "Third Age" is. It gives someone who is not reading the book an idea of what the setting of the book is like.

A: So far in my novel the main antagonist is Joey's mother, Ruth. She stands in Joey's path of being her own person, she always keeps Joey in the dark. She acts like this because she feels guilty, because she believes that she caused Joey's deafness, this causes her to be overprotective. However, she eventually she allows Joey to learn sign language. Afterwards, the next problem Joey has to face is to save Sukari from the scientist who experimented on her. The scientist replace Ruth as the antagonist, but Joey never really "beats" the scientist, but she does save Sukari.

Q: Who are the main characters in your book and what is their function? Why are they the main characters?

A: Joey Willis is the main character, you see the world in her perspective. You see her struggling to fit in as a young teenager suddenly a time lapse happens and all of a sudden she an grown active member of society. Q; Who is the antagoinst? Why are they in the novel? Why are they portrayed the way they are. How do they act as a foil character.
A: There are two main antagonists in the novel I chose. One is Mark, the high school jock, popular kid, and bully. John (the protagonist) falls in love with Mark's ex-girlfriend, Sarah, which causes Mark to become jealous of John and Sarah's budding relationship. Mark tries everything in his power to seperate the two of them, and claim Sarah as his own. The other antagonist in the book are the Mogadorians, a group of aliens that destroyed John's home planet. They are now trying to kill John, and the five others Lorien aliens left. If the succeed in killing the last of the Lorien population then they have a clear shot of destroying the Earth's population, and taking the planet as their own.
Q: Who are the main characters in your story and what is their funciton? Why are they the main characters.
A: The main characters are John, Sarah, and Sam. John is a Lorien alien who escaped from his home planet during an attack. He is on Earth hiding from the Mongadorians, who are the aliens who are trying to hunt them. While on Earth he develops powers that will protect him. These powers include being able to move things with his mind and being resistant to fire. Sarah is his girlfriend. She is the motive of John's survival. Sam is the other main character. He is John's best friend. He is also very geeky, and obsessed with science fiction and alien myths. He helps John with whatever he needs help with, and goes on different missions wlith him.
