The inciting incident in my book was when Detective Benette was speeding through New York City following the kidnappers instructions on the phone to where the boy was. Once the Detective finally arrived to the deserted building, he found the boy shot in the head. This was the inciting incident because the reader was not expecting this and it changed the case from kidnapping to murder. Since the boy was only 16 it really changed the mood of the book.
Shavonne Newome BQE 5: McKee Packet Making Connections (First Time) The character may have a self-contradictory/unconscious desire. The main character, Rayne, thinks that all she wants is to get out of her town and be alone. She feels like she needs to leave everyone she is currently around in order to be happy. She ultimately leaves and does what she thinks she wants-moves into a house in the middle of nowhere. This was her conscious desire, what she wants on the outside. In reality, all she really wanted was for someone to like her for her. She was being suffocated by her overly-affectionate boyfriend and oppressive mother and she did not feel like anyone actually cared about her. When she met St. John, a mysterious boy who directs all his attention towards her, she automatically feels comfortable. So comfortable, that she ignores her conscious and goes with everything St. John says. This is an example of an unconscious desire.
Alex Brooks BQE 4:Memorable Moment The most memorable moment in my book(Beautiful Creatures)is when the protagonist meets his love interest. In my book he had dreamt about her and never knew that she was a real person. It is a moment of awe for him when he sees her for the first time because in his dreams he had never seen her face, but he knew it was her from just one look. I found this moment so elating and it gave the reader a moment of riding on cloud nine.
Alex Brooks BQE 5:Mckee Connection(First Time) Character Revelation The moment in my book when there was character revelation was when Lena broke a window at her school and Ethan followed her when she ran out in embarrassment. The character revelation was for Ethan because most of his life he has never done anything spontaneous and has bandwaggoned with everyone. A lot of people at their school have made bad comments about Lena and do not like her and Ethan (in a way) was basically stating that he does not care what other people think.
The main character in my story's name is James. He is a student at A.M.S.A (Advanced Math and Science Academy) and has brown hair and is quiet. We are similar as we are both kind of shy. However, we differ greatly as he goes to his new school and dyes his hair purple and take up a "punk" persona. I think when he says, "I'm basically just that guy who sits next to you in math. You don't really know me, I don't know you either. But I'm there." represents him very well before he moves.
The inciting incident radically upsets the balance of forces in the protagonist's life. This happens in my book when Matt is told El Patron needs a new heart and only he can give it to him. Matt also learns that the only reason he was created was for backup organs. Matt then realizes that he must escape the plantation in order to live.
